Accounting Technician

Job Context

As an Accounting Technician, you play an essential role in the day-to-day management of accounting files for a client base composed primarily of growing SMEs. You work in close collaboration with CPA file managers and contribute to the quality of services provided to clients.

Main Responsibilities

• Entry and coding of accounting transactions (revenues, expenses, purchases, sales)
• Monthly bank reconciliations and monitoring of accounts receivable and payable
• Preparation of interim and year-end financial statements
• Preparation of tax returns (GST/QST) and follow-up on government remittances
• Full bookkeeping for a portfolio of SME clients
• Payroll preparation and employee file management (taxable benefits, pension plans), as applicable
• Filing, archiving, and organization of accounting documents
• Preparation of individual tax returns (employees, self-employed, rental income)
• Collaboration with file managers for year-end engagement preparation

Desired Profile

• College diploma in accounting and management or equivalent training
• 1 to 3 years of experience in an accounting firm or company
• Proficiency in accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, Acomba, or equivalent)
• Good knowledge of the complete accounting cycle
• Rigor, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Team spirit and good client communication skills
• Ability to work with artificial intelligence tools (e.g., automation, data entry assistance)

Additional Assets

• Experience with tax software (TaxCycle, ImpôtExpert, Taxprep, or equivalent)
• Knowledge of Quebec tax regulations
• Experience with clients in various sectors (retail, services, construction)
